AbleAble was a female rhesus monkey which flew with Baker, a female squirrel monkey, on the Jupiter AM-18 mission on May 28, 1959. Launched from Cape Canaveral, the monkeys flew 300 miles into space and were recovered safely.
Unfortunately, Able died shortly after the flight as doctors performed surgery to remove the sensors implanted underneath her skin.References: - Level 1 Certification (Article)
