Army Ballistic Missile Agency

The Army Ballistic Missile Agency (ABMA) was established in 1956. Its mission was to develop the US Army's first intermediate range ballistic missile. The ABMA developed the Redstone missile and the Jupiter-C which launched the US's first satellite, Explorer I into orbit on January 31, 1958.
