Boost Protective CoverDuring launch, the Apollo Command Module was protected by the Boost Protective Cover (BPC). The BPC protected the spacecraft during its journey through the earth's atmosphere and from the jettisoning of the Launch Escape Tower.
The BPC was made of cork covered by fiberglass. It was jettisoned from the CM along with the Launch Escape Tower. References: |
