Charlie DukeCharles Moss Duke, Jr. was born in Charlotte, North Carolina, on October 3, 1935. Duke was one of the 19 astronauts selected by NASA in April of 1966.
As CAPCOM for Apollo 11, Duke was heard talking to Neil Armstrong as Armstrong exited the Lunar Module during man's first landing on the Moon.
