National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics

The National Advisory Committee for Aeronautics (NACA) was created in 1915 to perform aeronautical research. The NACA established several laboratories across the country starting in 1917 with the Langley Memorial Aeronautical Laboratory in Virginia.

On October 1, 1958, the NACA was succeeded by NASA.
