Recovery SystemSport rockets use several methods of recovery to ensure that the rcoket returns to earth without damage and without endangering people or property on the goround.
The most common method of recovery is a parachute. Smaller rockets may use tumble recovery or a streamer. Some rockets, known as boost gliders or rocket gliders, glide to earth like an airplane. A more exotic form of recovery is helicopter recovery where the rocket uses auto-rotation to twirl down to earth like a maple seed. References: |
