Richard Covey
Richard Oswalt Covey was born on August 1, 1946, in Fayetteville, Arkansas.
Dick Covey was the pilot for STS 51-I, a flight which included the first on-orbit rendezvous and repair of an ailing satellite.
Covey's next spaceflight was as pilot of STS-26, the first flight after the Challenger accident.
His third flight was as commander of STS-38, a secret Department of Defense mission.
Covey's final shuttle flight was the STS-61 mission to service the Hubble Space Telescope.
